#ReleaseTheSnyderCut Gets Unexpected Support from Several Fast Food Chains

by KEVIN BURWICK

#ReleaseTheSnyderCut has just gotten a huge boost from various fast food chains. The Snyder Cut of Justice League has been in the news a lot over the last few weeks and many believe that the release is imminent. Zack Snyder has confirmed once again that his director’s cut does really exist and he has gotten backing from the actors in the movie, along with the original crew. While the movie might not be released any time soon, it continues to inspire good deeds.

Subway and a number of other fast food chains have come out in support of the Snyder Cut while also promoting the Feeding America organization. It all started when Subway supported a Twitter post by Ben Affleck promoting the organization. This got the ReleaseTheSnyderCut Twitter account to jump into action, asking how many retweets it would take to get the restaurant to donate 10,000 subs to Feeding America. Subway responded with the ReleaseTheSnyderCut hashtag and said they would commit to 5,000 retweets in 5 hours.

The Snyder Cut of Justice League ended up getting retweeted, along with the charity organization, in well under the 5-hour mark. This led to Subway upping the donation to 15,000 sandwiches along with a tweet referencing the movie. The sandwich restaurant said, “So you’re fast… and since you did it in under 214 minutes we are going to up the donation to 15,000 subs! And oh yeah, #ReleaseTheSnyderCut.” The tweet references Bruce Wayne’s first meeting with Barry Allen, proving that Subway knows a thing or two about Justice League. This spread the Snyder Cut word far and wide, while also helping a good cause.

Zack Snyder voiced his appreciation on social media by saying, “Thank you for your generous support helping feed hungry families across the country.” Feeding America also expressed their gratitude on social media. However, this did not stop with just Subway. As of this writing, Schlotzsky’s, Penn Station Subs, Moe’s Southwest Grill, and McAlister’s Deli have all gotten behind the idea and are promoting the Snyder Cut movement. It’s not every day that you see fast food chains getting together on social media. We’re used to Burger King trolling McDonald’s every Halloween.

This isn’t the first time that the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign has gotten together for a good cause. After Zack Snyder’s daughter took her own life, the group organized and ended up raising over $110,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. All of the support is something that Snyder truly appreciates. It all started with something fun, but it has been able to help out in a real way, which is pretty amazing to think about. The Snyder Cut may never see the light of day, but it has inspired a lot of people to make some positive changes. Maybe Warner Bros. will end up in the giving mood after seeing the positive effects of the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement. You can check out the tweet that started it all below, thanks to the Subway Twitter account.
