We all need Zack Snyder’s cut.
Whether you Loved BvS or hated it, you know there’s nothing quite like it. It has the depths of the Mariana Trench, visuals that resemble the fine art gallery, dialog that will take hold of your brain, and the two most recognized fictional characters of our modern times.
Disagree?
Well, I’d say you missed it all.
Not a day goes by when I don’t stumble upon a post/blog/article which analyzes or points out something meaningful no one has noticed before. If I’m lucky enough, it’s me finding that out.
I’ve read a great analysis piece, proving BvS has a different narrative structure, a Revenge Tragedy structure. Yeah, three-act structure is for plebs.
Who bloody knew wtf that was?
Who knew about Joseph Campbell?
I didn’t, and I’m not dumb or anything. I’m an Electrical Engineer. I design power and distribution grids. I KNOW SHIT.
But, I’m also a victim of the 21st-century culture, where it’s all about High-tech, Blockbusters and shared universes.
Zack showed me I know nothing. He let me peak through the keyhole. He is Morpheus, holding out his red pill of a BvS, and I am clueless Neo, diving into a world of awe and inspiration. A week after BvS premiered I couldn’t think about anything else, for months.
Let me be clear. When I talk about Zack, I mean Zack & company. By company, I mean his close colleagues. You know who these people are. You’ve heard them praise him time and time again.
While Hollywood is in flames over Sexual harassment scandals, I dare you to find even one person, ONE, that knows Zack personally and would say ANYTHING remotely bad about him.
You won’t.
Not only that, but Zack told us all about that, back in 2011, when he made Sucker Punch when Wokeness wasn’t a thing yet. Showing us what it’s like being a woman in that environment (spoiler alert: NOT FUN) – comparing it to a brothel.
Yet people chose to ignore all of its meaning, clinging to the surface, accusing him of being sexist and other ridiculous allegations.
So why should we have the Snyder cut?
Why tf SHOULDN’T we?!
It’s time the world shows Zack the appreciation he deserves.
